SPRING BEAUTY FAVOURITES

Since I’ve not written anything in ages and currently am very motivated to start blogging more frequently, decided to start off by sharing some of my most loved beauty products at the moment.

PROFUSION COSMETICS LOOSE PIGMENTS

Ever since I got them, can’t stop using them. Been using them for every single night out, works perfect for cut crease makeup looks. There’s never any fallout so I don’t have to worry about having my whole face covered in glitter by the end of the night.

REVOLUTION PRO REGENERATION PALETTE IN ENTRANCED

Being a lover of a bright eye look, I’m completely obsessed with this palette. Colour payoff is extremely good, stays on for a very long time (I’ve even slept while wearing this eye shadow and it looked perfectly fine after I woke up) as well as it costs only £8 – bargain!

THE BODY SHOP BODY BUTTER

Nothing much to say here – smells and feels amazing. Just thought that both mango and coconut are perfect scents for the spring and upcoming summer seasons.

THE BODY SHOP TEA TREE OIL

Best treatment for unwanted spots I’ve used so far. I use it every night before going to bed and it works wonders.

HOW I KEEP MY BLONDE HAIR COOL TONED

Even though I dyed my hair dark last week, I had my hair dyed blonde/balayage blonde for over two years prior to becoming a brunette. I absolutely loved being blonde but simply thought it was time for a change. Not going to lie, having bleached blonde hair really is high maintenance and the most annoying thing that comes with bleaching your hair is the yellow tones coming through. That’s why in this post I wanted to share with you what saved me from it.

After trying a bunch of products to tone my hair while still trying not to spend a fortune (I’m a poor student), the above products literally saved my life. Bleach London Silver Shampoo and Silver Conditioner do exactly as it says on the packaging – get rid of brassy yellow tones while moisturizing your hair. It doesn’t overtone your hair like most toning products tend to do and helps you achieve the cool tones without a lot of hassle. One thing I’d recommend though is using these products every other wash cause that is enough to maintain a cool blonde hair colour.

HEALTHY 3 INGREDIENT SNACK BARS

Me and my friend were craving something sweet last evening but did’t want to eat anything unhealthy since we’ve been trying hard to get in shape before summer starts. We came across this delicious snack bar recipe that does not require a lot of ingredients, is cheap and super easy to make so it is extremely student-friendly!

1. Ari by Ariana Grande

this fragrance has been my favourite one for quite a while now. It is really affordable, smells amazing and stays on for a long time.

2. Bleach London silver shampoo

I’ve tried so many hair products to help me maintain a cool tone of blonde ant this shampoo is by far the best one. I will definitely repurchase it again and again.

3. Neutrogena visibly clear pink grapefruit facial wash

IMG_4792

This gel gently purifies the skin without overdrying and leaves it feeling clean and refreshed.

4. Rimmel Stay Matte liquid lip colour in Moca

IMG_4796

This is my new favourite nude lip product: it’s not patchy at all, the shade is gorgeous and it stays on for a really long time. Perfect product both for daytime wear and going out.

5. Rimmel professional eyebrow pencil

This eyebrow product stays on for a long time and doesn’t use up as quickly as most eyebrow pencils.

Trip to New York

As I’ve mentioned in a few previous blog post, I spent the last week in New York. I still have some blog posts coming up that will cover some of the things I did and places that I went to in more detail, but in this post I wanted to share everything that I did in that amazing city day by day, since it may be helpful to someone who is planning to visit New York.

Monday, 8th of January

The journey began. Everyone who was going to New York met up near the university in Nottingham and was taken to Heathrow airport. We had some spare time until the flight so we spent it by chilling at the airport.

We arrived in New York only around midnight so didn’t do much except from moving in to Hotel Wolcott and going to the nearest McDonald’s to get some snacks.

Tuesday, 9th of January

We woke up quite early since we were sooo excited to start exploring New York. We got ready and grabbed breakfast at Dunkin Donuts cause it was just across the street from where the hotel that we were staying in was situated.

After wandering around the streets for a bit, we went to Top of the Rock which is an observatory deck in the Rockefeller centre. It was quite pricey to get in but totally worth it because you get to see the city from up above. The view is absolutely stunning.

After taking numerous pictures of each other and the city we headed to 5th avenue to take a look at window displays of designer stores (blog post about that).

Then we headed to the Central Park. We were lucky enough to visit New York when there was snow so it truly felt like a dream.

Wednesday, 10th of January

First thing we did on Wednesday was going to the Museum of Modern Art (blog post). After looking at amazing artwork for several hours we were starving so headed towards Times Square to find a cute place to have lunch in.

Since we didn’t want to eat at a place that can be found in the UK, we were lucky enough to cross a restaurant called Planet Hollywood. It felt like a really American place and the burgers that were really delicious.

After that we headed to Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology (blog post on that coming this week). We ended the day by walking along the riverside, chatting and exploring the Chelsea market but sadly both my camera and phone died so I wasn’t able to take any more pictures.

Thursday, 11th of January

On Thursday we went to Brooklyn. It for sure has a totally different vibe than Manhattan – it is way less busy and crowded. When the sun was setting we headed towards Brooklyn bridge and walked our way back to the hotel (of course after taking thousands of pictures).

After staying and chilling at the hotel for a bit, we went to Times Square. It honestly looks insane at night. We were just standing there and admiring all the lights probably longer that an hour.

Friday, 12th of January

We started our morning by visiting Cha Cha Matcha. Since I’m a big lover of everything matcha I got a matcha latte and a matcha croissant which honestly was sooo good.

Then we went to the MET. The building looks amazing both inside and out and the gallery is h u g e. You would probably need two days to look at everything.

After walking so much during previous days our feet were so sore that we couldn’t do much that day. We stayed at the hotel the rest of the afternoon and went to town for dinner later but that’s pretty much it.

Saturday, 13th of January

27043561_1770283813003347_533736307_nOn Saturday we basically spent the whole day shopping and wandering around the streets. We headed to the airport at around 5 pm and flew back to England.

All in all, I honestly fell in love with New York. It’s such an amazing city and I hope to come back there in my nearest future because there’s still so much I want to do and see. 5 days in a city like New York is not enough, especially because one’s energy is limited and some days we wanted to do and see more but couldn’t ’cause we were exhausted.

Visual merchandising in New York

As fashion students, me and my friends were interested in just walking around the streets in New York and taking pictures of window displays of  high-end stores. What I can tell is that people in New York do take it seriously when it comes to visual merchandising. Every store has a completely different and unique window display and even the architecture of every store in midtown Manhattan is stunning. We probably spent more than an hour just walking in the 5th avenue and appreciating everything around us haha.

Some of my favourite window displays were Saint Laurent, Miu Miu and Gucci. Even though they’re all completely different, I loved them.

Last but not least, I obviously loved window displays of Bergdorf Goodman.

VS X Balmain

While in New York, I happened to cross a Victoria’s Secret store and of course walked in to take a look at some of their products and lingerie. What I realised after was that the store actually had an exhibition upstairs of the collaboration between Victoria’s Secret and the French fashion house Balmain.

IMG_4397

I personally adore this collaboration since I’m a big fan of both Balmain and Victoria’s Secret. The collection has the right amount of glam and punk to it and that makes the lingerie items unique and stunning. As Oliver Rousteing said,  “I need to make sure that this punk is glam, and to bring punk to a couture level. It can’t look like punk on the street.” In my opinion, he succeeded.

IMG_4401

When you see the garments that models actually wore in real life rather than on television, it makes you appreciate it even more. Everything is done extremely neatly – even the smallest details look perfect.

The Museum of Modern Art

Since I spent last week in New York, I had the opportunity to visit quite a few wonderful places there. One of them is MoMA – one of the largest and most influential museums of modern art in the world. The museum has a huge collection of photography, prints, paintings, architecture and design and so on.

What I enjoyed the most about MoMA was the exposition Is fashion modern?. It shows how trends keep repeating themselves over the years and that quite a lot of clothing items that seem to be new and are trendind at the moment were actually worn ages ago.
